In a significant diplomatic move, Türkiye, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan have jointly called for an end to Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories. Following a meeting in Istanbul, the foreign ministers of these countries issued a statement condemning the ongoing violence, illegal settlement expansions, and forced displacements impacting Palestinians. They advocated for the implementation of a two-state solution as a pathway to achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.

The statement emphasized the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and supported the creation of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders established on June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The four nations denounced Israeli settlement activities in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, as well as aggressive actions by settlers against Palestinian communities. The ministers also called for the provision of unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza and the initiation of urgent reconstruction efforts.

Addressing broader regional tensions, particularly involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, the countries underscored the necessity of dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further escalation. They stressed the importance of protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure and expressed support for diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a negotiated settlement.

The ministers also highlighted the strategic significance of the Strait of Hormuz, cautioning that disruptions to this critical maritime route could jeopardize global energy, fertilizer, and food supplies. They urged for the restoration of safe and unrestricted navigation through the strait.

In addition to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the joint statement addressed the ongoing situation in Yemen, condemning Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, civilian infrastructure, and commercial shipping in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The four countries called for an end to military operations and urged the Houthis to re-engage with the political process.

Türkiye affirmed its commitment to supporting diplomatic initiatives and regional cooperation to address security challenges and promote peace. The countries agreed to continue consultations on regional conflicts, humanitarian issues, and efforts towards achieving long-term stability.
