In a recent diplomatic meeting held in Istanbul, representatives from eight countries, including Türkiye, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy, reached a consensus on the need to avoid further military actions against Iran. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan highlighted the collective agreement that a new military attack could exacerbate regional conflicts and further destabilize the Middle East. Instead, the group emphasized diplomacy and dialogue as the most effective means of resolving the ongoing crisis.
During the talks, participants expressed concern over increasing regional instability and the broader implications of ongoing conflicts. Fidan warned that further military escalation could lead to an expanded conflict in the region, complicating existing tensions rather than resolving them. The representatives collectively supported initiatives aimed at preventing the spread of war and ending hostilities in both the Gulf region and Ukraine.
The discussions also delved into Israel’s role in regional tensions, as well as security issues surrounding the Black Sea, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Fidan pointed out that disruptions to these crucial shipping routes could have substantial repercussions on international trade and global energy markets.
Fidan further noted that conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine are placing substantial economic and financial strain on countries worldwide. He stressed the importance of international collaboration and the implementation of effective diplomatic measures to avert further destruction and foster peaceful resolutions.
Additionally, Fidan mentioned that Türkiye is engaged in discussions with Egypt to address concerns over Ankara’s maritime agreement with Libya. He also expressed optimism that conditions might improve to facilitate closer ties between Libya’s rival eastern and western factions.
