Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for talks aimed at strengthening regional security and addressing ongoing conflicts. This visit marks Fidan’s second trip to the UAE since March and is part of efforts to enhance cooperation between the two nations on critical issues affecting the region.
The discussions are expected to cover a range of topics, including the conflict involving Iran and developments in Gaza and Lebanon. A particular focus will be on the significance of maintaining freedom of navigation through vital maritime routes such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, which are crucial for both regional and international trade.
Further, the talks will likely address the implementation of the second phase of the peace plan in Gaza, alongside humanitarian assistance and reconstruction efforts. Both Türkiye and the UAE, as founding members of the Board of Peace, are anticipated to coordinate closely on related activities to support stability in the region.
The agenda for the visit also includes preparations for the next meeting of the Türkiye-UAE High-Level Strategic Council. This council, which held its first leaders’ meeting in Ankara in July 2025, underscores the strategic partnership between the two countries, a relationship that has seen bilateral trade reach $19.346 billion in 2025, positioning the UAE as Türkiye’s largest trading partner in the Gulf.
Efforts to maintain ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon and bolster regional stability are also expected to be key points of discussion. Fidan is likely to emphasize the necessity of enhanced regional cooperation to address conflicts and limit external interventions.
